Youth Can Prevent Conflicts and Bring Prosperity
The world today is home to the largest generation of young people in history, 1.8 billion. Close to 90 per cent of them live in developing countries, where they constitute a large proportion of the population.
The Youth Union of Uzbekistan and United Nations agencies in Uzbekistan held a special session of the Youth Press Club dedicated to recent participation of the delegation of Uzbekistan in the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum. The Youth Forum took place on 8-9 April 2019. It provided a platform for young leaders from around the world to engage in a dialogue with United Nations Member States and to share ideas on how to advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Members of the delegation of Uzbekistan informed participants about various meetings with government representatives, youth delegates, policymakers, civil society and international organizations under the auspices of the Youth Forum.
During the Q&A session, participants of the Youth Press Club raised questions related to youth empowerment and existing opportunities, U-Report social messaging tool and the role of United Nations system in Uzbekistan in supporting the youth policy.
